A century‑old legacy of excellence, character, and service — the alma mater that shaped the 92 Batch and continues to inspire generations.

The Man Who Built a Legacy
In 1891, Louis Edmund Blaze, a visionary educator, founded Kingswood College on Pavilion Street with just eleven boys. Despite financial hardships, his unwavering determination saw the school earn government grants and grow into one of Sri Lanka’s most respected institutions.
From its earliest days, Kingswood was built on the principles of discipline, integrity, and service — values that continue to define every Kingswoodian today.

“Fide Et Virtute”
By Faith and Courage
Kingswood badge was made by Mr.A.Bartlom with the support of Mr.R.G. Anthonys who was a specialist in designing badges for armed forces. It was made in England and the stencil was cut by Mr.A.E.A. Polliar. The motto of the school “Fide Et Virtute” is symbolized in the badge. In the school’s Court of Arms, “FIDE” is symbolized by the shining sun, which is a symbol rooted in ancient Sinhala and Hindu, and the Wings, which shows the intent to rise. “Virtute” is symbolized by the Cross and shield embossed in the school colours. The motto wraps around the base of the shield.

A Legacy of Leaders
Kingswood College has produced Presidents, scholars, diplomats, and sporting legends who have shaped Sri Lanka. Among them are the members of the 1992 graduating batch — the founders of AFT Kids & Elders.
“The 92 Batch learned at Kingswood that education is incomplete without service. Today, through AFT Kids & Elders, we live that lesson — caring for the children and elders of the city that gave us our start.”
— AFT Kids & Elders, founded by Kingswoodians
